We stayed for two nights in late March for the first time and everything about this place went beyond our expectations , especially the staff on greeting and throughout were always willing to offer assistance and go out of their way to help, the place is immaculate and very well managed by the onsite manager . Got a foodie on board? Adrenalin junkie? Animal lovers? Small children, bored teenagers, adults? The Big Pineapple has each and every one of you covered!
For the thrill seekers, the Treetop Challenge is a two kilometre high ropes and zipline course traversing the established trees and tropical gardens around the grounds. Set over eight acres, this isn’t for the faint hearted, with children of 8 years who can reach 160 cm and above welcome on the course. Increasingly difficult sections ensure even the bravest backyard ninjas will be tested. It’s recommended you set aside half a day to complete all sections.
Not all of us love the idea of swinging high above the ground, but if you’ve been coerced into completing a few high ropes courses, a stiff drink is available along with the more genteel pursuits of gourmet food tasting down on ground level. Diablo Co’s popup bar is a welcome addition to a weekend visit; you can taste their range of alcoholic refreshment from vodkas to liqueurs and a delightfully spicy ginger beer, guaranteed to steady your adrenaline soaked nerves.
One of the newest attractions at The Big Pineapple gathering lots of fans both young and old, is the Wildlife HQ Zoo. Amongst lush rainforest and in a relaxed setting, over 200 species of animals including red pandas, meerkats, monkeys and koalas are being cared for in a naturalistic and ethical manner. Cuddle a koala or boa constrictor, feed a monkey and wander around at your own pace observing the incredible animals housed here. There’s also a café serving lots of coffee related products and light refreshments.
