We stayed for two nights in late March for the first time and everything about this place went beyond our expectations , especially the staff on greeting and throughout were always willing to offer assistance and go out of their way to help, the place is immaculate and very well managed by the onsite manager . This is all on top of the beautiful rooms , location and facilities , I highly recommend . - Amy
Noosa’s Festival of Surfing is back from the 15 – 23 May 2021, and with restrictions easing across the country, this promises to be a wonderful return to celebrating this iconic sport. And there really is something for everyone, even those who don’t like to get their hair wet!
For the competitive or just those who like it out on the waves, there is a huge number of scheduled events and competitions across the ages and ‘stick’ type to compete in: even the dog can get involved! With surfing divisions covering almost every kind of board from Under 15s to Over 70s, the Family Challenge and Open SUP’s as well as Dog Surfing (which is, if anything, an excellent spectator sport!), participating on land or in the water is guaranteed to provide that sought after stoke.
It’s not just the surf that’s taking centre stage this year however, with Chiggy’s Skate Fest to be held in conjunction with the Surf Festival right behind Tingirana in the Noosa Woods. A portable skate ramp will provide the setting for the kinds of athletic kickflips and half pipes most of us can (and should for our own safety!) only ooh and aah at.
For those interested in feeding their mind and body in a gentler manner, Yoga classes are scheduled right on Main Beach during the Festival. The Noosa Surf Museum will host special exhibitions, film and photography. There’s also the Noosa Solbar Beach Bar set up on the beach under the tipis, an opening night party here as well as a fundraising dinner at the Noosa Surf Club for Sunshine Coast children with disabilities. Ray Gleave who won the very first Noosa Malibu Classic back in 1992 and 7x World Surf Champion, Layne Beachley will be in attendance and speaking at this event. A second bar will service the Noosa Woods and skating events.
We’re passionate about the Noosa Festival of Surfing. For some of our guests, getting out onto the balcony first thing in the morning to get a look at the swell peeling off the points is a large part of the luxurious appeal of staying at Tingirana. Our location within a World Surfing Reserve and one of a handful of places along the Eastern seaboard where the waves are ‘on’ more often than not, is a boon for those who paddle, surf and swim. Hence, the Noosa Festival of Surfing is not just a celebration of everything Hang Ten and ‘stoke’, but an homage to this beautiful area and the special playground it provides.
